Visa And Currency

If you’re planning a visit to Dubai, there are various types of tourist visas to accommodate different travel needs, depending on your eligibility:

  2. A multiple-entry tourist visa, valid for 30 days or 60 days
  3. A multiple-entry long-term tourist visa, valid for five years
  4. A transit visa, one for 48 hours and another for 96 hours

The official currency of Dubai is the United Arab Emirates dirham (AED). It is commonly abbreviated as DH or Dhs.

The dirham is widely accepted throughout the city, and you will find it convenient to use for most of your transactions.

While the dirham is the primary currency, other major currencies such as the US dollar (USD) and the Euro (EUR) are also accepted in many establishments, particularly those catering to tourists.

The exchange rate is approximately 1 USD = 3.67 AED.

Weather

The typical high temperature in Dubai during January is 24ºC, so it’s great for some winter sun.

You’ll want to bring some warmer clothes for the evenings as things do get quite cool, while sea temperatures are around 21ºC. Humidity’s low, while average rainfall’s 11mm over two days with rain.

You can expect 11 hours of daylight with eight hours of sunshine each day, while UV levels will be high so pack some sun cream.

Sunset’s at 5.40 pm at the start of the month and gradually gets earlier.
